Calvert County Public Schools utilizes an application policy designed to enhance security and ensure that all software used within Calvert County Public Schools aligns with our approved list of applications. This initiative addresses several critical concerns, including:
- Increased Security – Preventing unauthorized software installations reduces potential cybersecurity risks.
- Classroom Management – Helps keep students on task by preventing access to unapproved applications, including games and unsupported browsers that bypass Classwize.
- Compliance & Safety – Ensures that students cannot bypass content filters while at home, keeping them safe online.
- Consistency & Support – Guarantees that all software used in our schools is properly vetted, supported, and compatible with our systems.
What does this mean?
The error message indicates that the system is blocking the use of the application and typically falls into one of two categories:

Previously Approved Software with Unrecognized System Dependencies
In some cases, software that was previously approved may require additional system dependencies that were not initially apparent. If you’ve verified that that application is listed on the Approved Software list or in the Company Portal, please:
- Submit a help desk ticket: https://calvertnet.zendesk.com/ with the following information:

- Application name
- Asset tag or computer name where the block was observed

- Once the ticket is submitted, we will work with you to identify the blocking event, isolate and eliminate it. The IT department will follow up with you asking to verify that the application is working correctly for you and if it is not, continue to work on rectifying that issue.

Unapproved Software
If the affected software has not been previously approved, it will need to go through the software approval process. Staff can submit a Software Request Form here:
