This article explains how to create a Microsoft 365 Group using Outlook Desktop (Classic). Creating a group this way automatically provisions a SharePoint site, Outlook calendar, shared mailbox, and OneNote notebook.
Create a Group
- Open Outlook Desktop (Classic).
- Create a new group by using either of the following methods:
- Select New Group from the Ribbon.
- Select Groups in the navigation pane, then select New Group.
- Select New Group from the Ribbon.
- Enter:
- Group Name
- Description
- Privacy (Public or Private)
- Select Create.
- Search for and add group members.
- Select Add Members.
Access Group Resources
After the group is created, you can access:
- SharePoint Site
- Files
- OneNote Notebook
If desired, you can also upgrade the group to include Microsoft Teams by selecting Add real-time chat from the SharePoint site.
