Google Chrome - How to import your Favorites/Bookmarks

Purpose

All browsers allow you to export and import favorites and bookmarks from other browsers. In most cases, Chrome will automatically prompt you to move them over from another installed browser.

There may be times when you need to manually import bookmarks from a different computer using an exported file. This guide walks you through importing favorites and bookmarks into Google Chrome using an HTML file.


Before You Begin

  • Ensure Google Chrome is installed and open

  • Locate the HTML file that contains your exported favorites or bookmarks

  • Confirm the computer is connected to the internet


How to Import Bookmarks

Step 1: Open the Chrome Menu

  1. Open Google Chrome.

  2. Click the ellipsis in the upper right corner of the browser window.


Step 2: Open Bookmark Manager

  1. Click Bookmarks.

  2. Click Bookmark manager.


Step 3: Open Import Options

  1. Click the ellipsis in the upper right corner of the Bookmark Manager.

  2. Click Import bookmarks.


Step 4: Import the File

  1. Locate the HTML file that contains your bookmarks.

  2. Click Open.

Installation Complete

Your bookmarks have now been imported into Google Chrome and are ready to use.


Tip

After importing, you can organize your bookmarks into folders using the Bookmark Manager to keep them easy to find.
