Microsoft Edge - How to export your saved passwords

Microsoft Edge can save and sync your passwords between machines provided you are signed in with your CCPS Microsoft account.  At times, you may want to export your passwords in order to move them to another account or just back them up to an external source.  Whatever your reason, the steps below will walk you through that process:

  1. Open Microsoft Edge and click the ellipsis (three horizontal dots) in the window's upper right corner.

  2. Click Settings

  3. Under the Profiles section, click Passwords

  4. Click the ellipsis (three horizontal dots) next to Add password and choose Export passwords from the menu

  5. Click Export passwords

  6. Enter any credentials required and save the resulting file in a safe place.  Note that this file is saved in "plain text" so it is readable by human eyes.  It is VERY important that you secure your passwords immediately.

  7. Now you will be able to view your passwords in Excel or import them to another browser or a password manager that supports importing the CSV files format.
