Student Laptops: What Device Will My Child Receive?

As part of Calvert County Public Schools' Future Ready Initiative, students in grades 3–12 are provided access to a CCPS laptop to support teaching and learning.

The type of laptop provided depends on the student's grade level.

Note: Students in grades 3 and 4 have a dedicated laptop assigned for their use at school. These devices remain in classroom laptop carts and are not taken home.

Accidental Damage Protection

Each student laptop includes an extended Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) warranty that covers most accidental damage.

The warranty does not cover:

  • Intentional damage
  • Damage resulting from neglect
  • Cosmetic damage, such as scratches, dents, carvings, stickers, or other alterations

Students should report damage or problems with their laptop to their school as soon as they are discovered.

For additional information about what is and is not covered, review our Student Laptop Warranty and Accidental Damage Protection (ADP) article.

Taking Care of Your CCPS Laptop

Students should:

  • Keep food and drinks away from the laptop.
  • Carry the laptop carefully using two hands.
  • Keep the laptop protected when transporting it.
  • Use only the assigned or approved Lenovo charger.
  • Never attempt to repair the laptop.
  • Report damage or problems to the school immediately.

Proper care helps ensure that the laptop remains available and ready to support student learning throughout the school year.
